BASF appoints head of Shanghai BASF Polyurethane Company Limited

Shanghai, China - March 19, 2012 - BASF has appointed Mr. Marko Murtonen as Vice President, BASF and General Manager of the Shanghai BASF Polyurethane Company Ltd (SBPC) in Shanghai. He succeeds Mr. Marco Millies, who has transferred to BASF PharmaChemikalien GmbH & Co. as Managing Director in Minden, Germany.

Mr. Murtonen joined BASF in 2010 after the integration of the Ciba business. Since 1997, he has held various management positions in the areas of production and site management production optimization, as well as process and product development in production sites in Finland, Switzerland and Netherlands. In 2009, he was appointed as Site Manager of Ciba Maastricht B.V. At present, he is the Site Director at BASF Netherland B.V. Maastricht in Netherlands.

He holds a Master’s degree in Chemical Process Engineering from the University of Oulu in Finland.
